A really hot day!

Today's weather forecast was 101 degrees! That's way too hot to go to a park, so we were looking for somewhere indoors to go. We were having a hard time finding something suitable. Then one of my friends called and said she wants to invite a bunch of us to come with our kids and go swimming in her backyard. Now that was a great idea!  Sima and Mushka ran to get their bathing suits and put it neatly in a bag. Only problem was we still had a good hour until it was time to leave. So... it became baking time!
We whipped up a batch of chocolate chip sticks, and now we had a special treat to bring along for everyone!

When we were finished lunch, we headed  over to the pool party. We filled up the pool and I was pleasantly surprised that within minutes they were both inside! They had the time of their lives splashing in the pool and running around in the backyard. No one wanted to leave and we ended up hanging out there all afternoon. (I'm still waiting to get our backyard back!!)

When we got back the girls helped me make pizza for supper. The girls enjoyed decorating their pizzas with sauce and cheese. Yum! (sorry no pics, my camera died...)
What a fun day!

Our day at the park!

Today, we had another "Mommy and me" at the sprinkler park! We all met at the park in the morning and ended up being there till around 2:30. It was a win-win situation, the kids had a blast playing together and the mommies had fun talking to each other.

On the way home we stopped at a farmer's market that is held at a park not too far from our house. The girls had a great time picking out some fruit and vegetables.

Sima really wanted to go on the slide, so we headed over to the park section. When we got there a lady asked us if we were there for story time. I figured why not, and said yes. There was a tent set up with blankets on the floor. They had a really cute program! First they read a story about bugs. They then gave out bags with a list of things to find in the garden, and a bug catcher to catch bugs. After they finished the search they set up a craft - rock painting. The girls had a great time and I'll have to be sure to look out for next month's story time!

Our day...

Originally I had grand plans for today to take the kids strawberry picking. It was a beautiful day, not too hot and not too cold and I'm pretty sure today was the last day here. Yesterday, around 4pm I got a reminder call that I had a well visit appointment for Mushka. The appointment had already been pushed off one time to many so that was that. Sima went to a friends house while I went to the doctor and it ended up taking a l-o-n-g time. Oh well there's always blueberry picking!
To make up for it, we went to a really nice park in the afternoon. It's a bit far but totally worth it! It has a huge playground area with all different kinds of structures for the kids to climb on, and all types of slides.

What a fun day!

Another fun day...

This morning after davening Sima right away asked, "Mommy can we do a project!" I guess she's getting into the routine of things!
First, I boiled some hot water and poured in a cup into the measuring cup. Then Sima very carefully put in a half a cup of cornstarch.
I put in a drop of dishsoap, (it makes it more washable) and Mushka helped mix it.
I then poured half into two spray bottles. The girls each picked a color and I added a few drops of paint into their bottle. Then they shook it up!
I grabbed a few pieces of paper and we headed outside. It was a bit windy outside, so the girls collected some rocks to use as paper weights...
and painted away!

The paint came out very cute, and the girls loved it! If anyone wants to try it though I'd suggest adding more water so it should be easier to spray.
Originally I said I'd aim for two activities a day but it looks like its going to be an activity and a trip.
After lunch we headed over to the "Duck Park". Sima and Mushka had a fabulous time watching and feeding  the ducks!

We then played in the park a bit before heading home. What a fun day!

Today's day!

This morning we got a bit of a late start. (well in the activity part not in the waking up part!) We came home around 9:30 this morning from our Shabbos hosts. The kids were really overtired from going to sleep late and waking up early the last two days so naptime it was.

After lunch, the weather was not so nice. It was very humid, and it looked like it was going to rain any minute. So we decided on another trip to... the pet store! For those of you who have never been, its almost like a free zoo! The girls were fascinated by the grooming section, watching through a window how a dog was getting a haircut. We then saw all different kinds of fish; big and small and all different colors.

Our last stop was the bird house. At first the girls were admiring the different colors and imitating their sounds. Then we got lucky. A worker came in with a lady who wanted to buy two blue birds. I figured it would be cool to watch... The worker slowly opened the cage, and tried catching one but a yellow one and a blue one escaped. Mushka was petrified and Sima was not far behind. We were in a little room with two birds trying to escape and we weren't able to leave or the birds would too! After about five harrowing minutes, another worker snuck in, and helped him get all the birds where they belonged. Phew!

 What a fun day!

Friday...

Friday was only a half way Friday. We weren't home for Shabbos, but I still cooked. Sima was really excited to be home when I was making challah. I usually save her some dough to braid, but she hasn't seen me make the dough in a long time.

After we finished making challah, the girls helped me sweep and mop, with their pretend broom and mop. We then went on a mystery walk. Not such a busy day, but fun nonetheless!

Vacation!

Today was the first day of official vacation! It was also another really hot day. In the morning, we went outside and the girls played with their toys and of course their chalk. (if you haven't yet noticed, its one of their favorite things to do)

It was getting quite hot, so I decided it was time for a break. We went inside and got to work. First we put some milk and vanilla in a ziplock bag. (sorry that picture got deleted)
Then we put salt and ice in a bigger ziplock bag.

Then we put the small bag into the big bag, made sure it was closed well, and went outside and played catch with it!
After a few minutes, we took out the small bag and the milk had turned into ice cream! Yum!!

After lunch, we went back outside. After having such a good time yesterday in the water, we decided to play with the sprinkler in front of our house. I felt a little bad, the girls were having a little bit of a hard time getting the sprinkler going, and just when someone was walking by they pushed hard enough for it to work and someone got soaked... At least he was a sport about it! As you can see they really enjoyed it!
After drying up sufficiently, we went over to a friend for a playdate and had a great time at their house. What a fun day!

Today's Activity is...

Today was officialy Sima's last day of school. This morning was her Aleph Beis party/graduation, and it came out really cute! Sima had been looking forward to it for the past two weeks, singing all the songs for us, and today it came out adorable!

This afternoon, four of us 'Mommies' got together and took our kids to a sprinkler park. It was a really really hot day - 97 degrees to be exact, and that was the only outing that made sense. At first, the kids were just watching the water and not really going in, so I decided to go in with them! Once I carried them through the sprinklers a few times, they lost their fear and kept running through them and had a blast! Don't worry, although I myself got soaked in the beginning, it was so hot that by the time I went back to the car, I was all dried up! All in all the kids loved it and we'll definitely be going back there! Before:

After:

Now that Sima finished school, the real challenge begins... Stay tuned!

Trip day!

Today was trip day! Levi's class went to a state park as an end of the year trip, so I decided to come along! There was a really fun splashpark, and beach and the kids had an absolute blast dancing and splashing in the water!

Activity of the day!

This morning I was supposed to chaperone Sima's class on a trip, but it was cancelled last minute, so I ended up just doing lots of laundry! When I went to pick up Sima from school I drove since I knew she had walked to a park and I figured she'd be too tired to walk. Well, it was a good thing I did! As Sima was getting into the car, the sky was getting darker and darker. We quickly went home and as soon as we got onto the porch it started to pour! Sima was so excited! "Mommy look it's raining again! Can we go play outside in the rain?" After lunch she asked again, so I decided to make a project out of it. I brought them paper and crayons, and told them to color all over the paper. When they were finished, I showed them both how to fold the papers. Mushka needed help, but I was really impressed how Sima was able to follow my directions. Suprise!! By the time we finished our project, it had stopped raining! Perfect timing! I was really excited to have puddles but not have to get wet while playing with them. The kids had a ball floating their boats in the puddles, and even went inside to get some ducks from the buddy to add to the fun. What a fun day!

Our Second Activity!

Well believe it or not, we've had a beautiful hot June. This afternoon though, it poured!! I decided to take advantage of the rain, got the kids dressed in rain boots and raincoats and went out to play in the rain. Armed with some pitchers, small jars, and lots of puddles, Sima had an absolute blast! Mushka on the other hand wasn't so sure about the whole thing.. .
